Waterfront & Golf Communities of the Lowcountry

The 64 major islands, and hundreds of smaller islands that comprise The Lowcountry, and the intertwining Ocean creeks, Intracoastal Waterway, thousands of acres of pristine wetlands and miles of shorelines, provide the vistas and enclaves for many unique and environmentally sensitive residential Waterfront & Golf communities. (See my Photo Gallery of The Lowcounty at www.fototime.com )

Featured below (in alphabetical order) are some of the Lowcountry's most desirable waterfront and island retreats, many with world-class golf courses, community boat docks and marinas, clubhouses and other amenities. Most are within 10-30 minutes of downdown Beaufort, 30-60 minutes to Hilton Head, and about 1 hour to Savannah or Charleston.

Many of my company listings are Estate-Homes located in planned Waterfront & Golf communities such as Cane Island Retreat or Resort and beach areas on Fripp Island and Harbor Island. Many of the communities featured below have online Photo Galleries, and more will be added.

Through my MLS membership, I have access to all the real estate on the market and I can show you any of the waterfront properties available in the Beaufort area and surrounding islands. Having years of experience in the local real estate market, I am personally familiar with all the residential communities in the area, and I will do what it takes to help you find or sell that special home or property. Battery Point

Battery Point is a 100-acre community located along Old Salem Road and has 4500 linear feet of water frontage along Battery Creek which leads to Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. It is only 3.5 miles from downtown Beaufort and close to two major shopping centers. Battery Point is a great family neighborhood, with “Charleston” style homes, where the young and young at heart interact. The developer provided environmentally sensitive nature trails, a waterfront park and playground, as well as a community store, swimming pool, tennis courts, community dock, boat ramp, and an oyster pavilion.

This affordable community is thoughtfully designed to allow the use of the property's waterfront by the entire community. The property was developed in a manner that is conducive to pedestrian circulation and community interaction among its inhabitants, in a manner consistent with Neo-traditional Neighborhood Design. Service alleys behind the homes provide access, leaving the roadways free of parked cars and driveways, and friendlier to the pedestrian. A minimum front yard setback, along with sensitive architectural guidelines, enhances these roadways as pedestrian scaled avenues. Contact Cassy!

Brays Island Plantation

Escape to Brays Island, a premiere private community, steeped in southern plantation history since the 1600’s. With only 325 circular one-acre homesites secluded amid 5,500 acres, you'll find your private place here. Shoot sporting clays at The Gun Club. Board your horse at the equestrian center and wander 40 miles of trails. Or build your own stable on an equestrian home site nestled by a lush paddock. Go crabbing, shrimping, or fly fishing for tarpon, cobia, and redfish in 20 miles of pristine river, marsh waterways, and abundant ponds. Tee it up any time on the island’s Ron Garl designed PGA course where reservations are never needed. With direct access to Broad River, Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, enjoy a full service Marina with boat launch. With swimming, tennis and many other community events, the wide-variety of activities are nearly countless.

The Plantation's neo-Georgian manor home, and adjacent carriage houses, have been restored and converted to a 13-room inn and meeting facility for Brays Island members and guests. Desiged by Robert Marvin, a Lowcountry native and nationally recognized land planner, who had been instrumental in planning Sea Pines Plantation in Hilton Head, Brays Island was developed without sacrificing the plantation atmosphere. Owned and controlled not by developers, but by the property owners, Brays Island has been called "the finest intact preservation of a private plantation in America." Brays Island isn’t for everyone. And that’s the beauty of it. See Photo Gallery at www.fototime.com For more information Contact Cassy.
